The Right Kind Of Pet Food Storage Container
For every kind of pet food, there is a right kind of pet food storage container. There are many different kinds of pet foods as varied as the pets they provide nutrients to. Dogs and cats are among the most common types of pets that humans have in this world. There are several kinds of pet food fro these two animals. The more common are the wet and dry. There are also two kinds of pet food storage containers for these types of food.
The Dry Pet Food Storage Container
The dry pet food storage container is usually a bin or deep pail with a lid or cover. The emphasis on the importance of the cover for this type of pet food storage container is extreme. This type of food container for pets is usually large enough to store about 20 to 40 kilograms of dry pet food. There are smaller varieties of this pet food storage container for those who do not buy by the bulk.
There are advantages and disadvantages to having a big pet food storage bin. One disadvantage is obvious if the dog is of a smaller variety and eats only a small amount of dog food. This means that the food n the large bin will be there for months on end, losing its freshness and probably harboring colonies of molds and mildew at the bottom. On advantage of having this kind of pet food storage container is the convenience of being able to buy pet food by bulk and not going out every few days to buy.
It is best to keep the food bin in a cool dry place, inaccessible to any animals that may have an interest in the food. Rodents, insects and, yes, even the dog itself will be anxious to get their paws on the dog food.
The Wet Pet Food Storage Container
Wet pet food is usually sold in a can or plastic container. Since this kind of pet food is sold in small amounts that can be easily consumed within the day, there is not actual need for a large pet food storage container for this. If the wet pet food is not consumed and needs to be stored for the night, it is best to get it out of the can it came in and store it in a small pet food storage container for the refrigerator. Make sure that this small container is airtight and as much as possible not plastic since some plastics retain the smell of the pet food.
