The Key To Boxer Dog Training
The boxer is an extremely playful and energetic breed which makes them a handful in a good way. They are also an extremely loyal dog that will give you a friendship that lasts forever. However, the boxer is unique and not for everyone, if you are considering getting a boxer you should know that they need a lot of attention and training. They are intelligent which makes training a bit easier, but this can also be bad since the boxer knows how to get what they want.
The main profession for a boxer is as a guard dog so this often is the main type of boxer dog training. Those who don’t know the breed very well tend to think the breed is naturally aggressive when they are actually more playful than any other breed. Rather people naturally assume the worse because of their stature and aggressive look. This is why proper boxer dog training is important.
Intelligence
Boxer dog training can be very difficult since the breeds intelligence makes them stubborn, but this intelligence is also very helpful in boxer dog training. Remember that there will be times that your boxer will just look at you when you tell them to do something, they know what you want them to do but they don’t want to be bothered and they aren’t going to listen to you. Just be patient under these circumstances. Start your boxer dog training as early as six weeks which will help them when they grow up. Socialize them, play with them and teach them, but make sure it is exciting so that they are more likely to listen.
Socialization
Socialization is the key to boxer dog training, boxers can be very friendly but only if you train them to be. You need to get them accustomed to other dogs and people. Training classes is one of the best ways to do this. This way you can train your boxer alongside other dogs at the same time.
You should start serious boxer dog training when your dog reaches between thirteen and sixteen weeks old since this is the stage when they are going to test their dominance. They will nip and try to show that they are the more dominant one, but mostly they won’t listen to you. You need to be the strong, dominant one at this time and show them that you won’t tolerate bad behaviors at all.
Boxers make a excellent pet for everyone, they like to cuddle more than anything else. However you need serious boxer dog training in order to ensure you have an excellent family pet. So start your boxer dog training early and take it seriously.
