Socialization Most Important In Pit Bull Puppy Care
Of all of the types of dogs, Pit Bulls have gotten a bad rap when it comes to their temperament, and what kinds of dogs they become as they get older. This means that for those that are looking for pit bull puppy care, the most important thing for them to worry about should be socialization and training. Yes, it is important to take care of your puppy properly, including feeding the correct food and doing the correct things for training, but with pit bull puppy care socialization is going to be the most important thing you can do.
How To Do It?
There are many mistakes that people make with pit bull puppy care. First of all, some people buy a pit bull because they are rumored to be mean and to be a fighting dog, and this is what the people want. When this happens, the owners tend to get into pit bull puppy care in the way that they would want their pit bull to behave. This means that they will play roughly with their pit bull puppy, and try to make him into something he is not. Playing rough and hitting or teasing a pit bull, or any dog, will make it mean and aggressive as it ages.
This means that the most important parts of pit bull puppy care are loving it and giving it socialization. A dog, any breed of dog, will end up being exactly the dog you treat it as when it is a puppy. If you act like you are fearful of the dog and want the dog to act aggressively towards you, even in jest, and this is your type of pit bull puppy care, you will find that your puppy grows up to be exactly what you treated him as.
Therefore, when you are looking at pit bull puppy care you need to socialize your puppy very much. You need to take him places and have him exposed to many different sounds and loud noises, as well as people. You need to expose him to children and other animals and make sure that he is able to handle the stress of meeting new animals without getting aggressive.
Remember your dog will be as you want him to be. This means that pit bull puppy care should include teaching him how to be kind and loving and gentle, and should not include teaching him how to be mean and aggressive.

Pitbulls are wonderful dogs and I have one and his name is boogie man. He is over a year old and still sleeps in the bed with me! He has never, under any circumstances, shown aggression! He is a big baby and is truly my best friend!
I am a new owner of a 8 week old Pit named Rocky. He is so affectionate. I would like to have all the important info on how to raise and care for him properly.
My daughter’s father asked me to train his (he really intended it for my daughter) pitbull puppy of 3 months because I already have a poodle (4 years old–she is very loving) so he figured she, in essence would train the puppy and she kind of is training him. He is a very good puppy and is already learning to have good “peepee” habits, lol. Any comments on that also any suggestions on the type of food I might give and also milk products, if any.
I just got two female pitbull pups (6 weeks old). Names is Pearl and Ziggy. Both are twins fully black with diamondlike white mutts (face) and they’re the sweetest loving pups and my roomie has an older pitbull…8 years old…and that elderly pitbull will definitly be a very good role model for the pups. Been taking them to the beach frequently cuz I’m a beach lover…and Ziggy sleeps thru the noises and stuff..but Pearl is kinda a bit shaky around and in cars…so I just give her as much affection and keep her close to my body to let her know it’s ok. I’ve had dogs my whole life but never owned a pitbull..but still treat all dogs same ways and all dogs I’ve had has turned out real great. Just one thing I’m wondering is…..is having two sister pitbulls a good idea…or best to have a pitbull alone or two is ok? both have different personalities but look exactly the same.
ive got a 4 month old pitbull hes really good with my 2 kids aged 1 and 2,they sleep on him and he doesnt mind at all.there great dogs
i just got a blue nose pitbull puppy and she is 2 months. She is so loving and has already learned to go “pottie” outside! I was weary at first about a pitbull but now i see how much love they show….:)
I have a 10/week old Pit pup… her name is Bella. We have her with our 2 children (ages: 2 yrs and 10/mths) and we are expecting our 3rd child in March. She is an awesome puppy – my only concern is her becoming dog aggressive later in life (I have had MANY dogs – but no pits or pit mixes before). She is of coarse spayed/etc but is there any way to avoid the whole random-future-dog-aggression thing?
Mike – the best thing do with a dog that is nervous in the car is to get her in it while the car’s off, maybe feed her in there. When she’s completely at home with it off, turn it on. If she whines/shows fear, ignore her. Once she settles down, praise her for being good. If you praise a dog while they are insecure, they’ll learn that they are supposed to be that way. Insecure dogs, pitties and other “aggresive” dogs especially, can become fear-biters.
Two dogs can be a pack, and in badly trained and socialized dogs, this may escalate into a mob mentality. However, if you continue to be a strong, loving owner, they can be a pair of ambassadors for their breed.
Rachel – Dog aggression isn’t random. If you socialize her, and make sure that her experiences with dogs are all positive, then she’ll be like any other dog. If she starts showing fear or aggression with other dogs, call a professional trainer that is familiar with the breed quickly.

hi, just got a new female pitbull and she’s more than a month old. i named her Latifah. prior to her, i have a 5 month-old poodle at home, his name is Le Monde. Need tips on how to make them co-exist? not sure if they are playing, or fighting. Le Monde (poodle) stays most of the time inside the house and has been trained to go “pottie” outside. Latifah stays most of the time outside since she has no proper training yet. My goal is to have them stay inside the house during daytime and let them sleep outside at night. any tips? need your help/advise. would appreciate it very much. thanks!

Hi,
Is the female pitbull better than the male ?
I’m still confused.. I want to buy a pitbull but dont knw which sex is more playful, smart, strong..
thanks!
I just bought a blue pitt for my son for christmas. She is beautiful with gorgeous sky blue eyes. We named her Diamond Sky, because she has a white diamond on the back of her neck. She is extremely hyper. Doing fantastic with house training.
As a puppy she wants to chew on everything. Not her own toys though. She prefers shoes…my shoes, pulling on my pants as I walk by her. She sleeps in a portable kennal at night. Is that alright. We have a large home, but until she is fully house broken we limit her to the kitchen area when she is just romping around. At night she sleeps with me or my son. WE LOVE HER AND JUST PRAY THAT SHE REMAINS AS SWEET AS SHE IS NOW!
Hi,
We have a 10 wk old male pitbull. He is really rough with my kids ages 5, 3,2. Whenever they walk by him he will bite them or knock them over. He has left bite marks, scrapes & bruises on them. Whenever my kids are outside playing with him he will chase them, knock them over & bite them. We have tried telling him no, letting him get his energy out, giving him a toy after he bites, closing his mouth & telling him no, saying ouch after he bites, putting him in his kennel for a few minutes after he bites, but he continues to bite all the time. He has ripped a lot of our clothes from biting all the time & put a lot of holes in them also. The only time he lets me & my kids pet him is when he is asleep. HELP I am starting to lose my patience with him. Also he only listens to my Hubby, any ideas on how to calm him & help him to stop biting? We are very nice & loving to him but he’s still a little stinker…
Pits are extremely social, friendly, and emotional, been around them for ten years and they are each unique BUT they ALL LOVE PIGSEARS. I had the pick of the litter and would never pick a biter and believe it or not, they are born that way – Ive been around at least 4-5 litters. The first one I kept close was Niko, awesome, the kids could grab her, jump on her, anything and all she would do was lay there. Her son Ty was our next fave – talk about gentle and what a beautiful smile. He used to walk into my legs as a pup and immediately forget and do it again. Now we have the granddaughter Anna, along with my 7 year old daughter and Dad is extremely protective. Our (handpicked) pit knows from the start no biting allowed and we have not ever experienced it but we do get the kid getting knocked off her feet and jumped up on occasionally. As long as you are loving and give her attention. My female is extremely gregarious, however, with her siblings, get frisky and can easily be led to mischief, but when you know her, it is all in fun. I have dog sat her male relatives – all perfect role models (get grumpy with certain other dogs, like a frisky pup or old blind mutt). Cannot say males or females are better over the other as long as you have a connection. But as I write, I recall never did the male jump on my baby, but the girl does, perhaps some rivalry for my attention. I would not allow the biting with tykes ever!!! They will get bigger and stronger so you need to put your foot down asap. Sadly, there have been those wild ones and while they were cute as pups, I was happy to say bye when they were sold. My sons breeds them and he is extremely responsible about putting the right ones with the right family.
I’m 13, and my mom just bought me two male alligator/assassin pit bull puppies. There really cute, they just like to whine a lot
And they already chewed up a whole pillow and there only 7 weeks old I think. They love to sleep all day and play all night which is very unconvient for me because I have school and they keep me awake. I never had a pit bull before and I want to raise mine properly. :].
Hi. I just got a 10 wk old pitbull for my birthday in 2 days. I’m not sure which breed of pit, though. I think I’ll be getting another dog for my birthday as well. I also have 2 other dogs and a cat. One of my dogs, Butters (short for Buttercup) growls at my new dog (pit named oreo), I’ve had her for up to 7 years but is just now showing jealousness and aggression. The pit is nice, sweet, and gentle. my other dog (rilee) stays outside and is not really that curious about oreo. oreo constantly barks playfully at my cat. My cat just sits there and looks at oreo. Where I come from people will steal your pitbull cause everyone wants one. For that reason, I don’t want to put her outside while I’m away at school. She is housetrained. But I dont want her to be inside alone. What could I do to settle the pitbulls anxiety when being alone?
