All puppies are adorable, and sometimes it can be hard to determine if, aside from the fact they are cute, this is the right bred for you or your family. Doberman puppies, like all puppies, make a huge impact when you see them. Most Doberman puppies are usually brown or black and their happy disposition and energetic play, it can be hard to forget that they will grow up.

So what are the defining characteristics of Dobermans? These dogs were bred originally in Germany and are a combination of several different dogs. The intent for the Doberman was to have a dog that was loyal, loving and a good protector. Originally called a Dobermann Pinscher, the word Pinscher was dropped as this means Terrier in German and it was felt the dog didn’t represent a Terrier. The n at the end of Doberman is not always used, but the man who originally bred the dog’s name was Dobermann and the dog is named for him.

In some countries the dogs ears are not cropped and the tail is not bobbed. In the United States most Doberman puppies will have their ears surgically cropped and their tail bobbed. It is not necessary to do this, but does make the breed stand out from others that have similar colors and characteristics.

The Doberman has lived up to the potential that it was bred for and more. This is a breed that is easily recognizable and a favorite for many.

Finding Doberman Puppies

If a Doberman is the right dog for you, finding a good breeder is an important step to getting the right Doberman puppies for your family. A good breeder will be concerned with the care of the puppies and have an interest in you as a potential buyer of the puppy. Ask to see both the dam and the sire of the puppies. If you’re not able to actually see the sire, ask to speak with the owners to find out about any potential genetic health risks to the Doberman puppies.

Often, breeders have other dogs registered through the American Kennel Club and this may be a great way to find a reputable breeder. Visiting dog shows can also lead to discovering a good breeder. There will be Doberman dogs at most dog shows and speaking with people that belong to clubs that support the breed can help you find a good breeder.

Doberman puppies are cute and the bred has a solid reputation as a good family pet.

There are many different dog breeds, and each has their own unique and special characteristics that go with them. The Doberman Pinscher dog breed was first bred in Germany in the 1890’s. They were initially bred by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann and named in honor of him. There are several different breeds that were used to create this unique dog, including the German Shepard, the Rottweiler and the Great Dane.

The Doberman Pinscher dog breed was made to be loyal, intelligent and to be used as a good guard dog.

Characteristics Of The Doberman Pinscher Dog

Since the dog was breed to be a working dog, this breed has been used as guard dogs, police dogs and even in the military. The Doberman Pinscher dog breed was used during World War II by the American Marines and many were killed during a battle in Guam. There is a memorial in place that recognizes the courage of these dogs.

The Doberman Pinscher dog is known as a medium sized dog that is usually black or brown. Although it can come in blue, red or a fawn color depending on their genetic make-up. White Doberman Pinscher dogs also have existed, but they come with a genetic problem that most breeders will not encourage in their breeding practices. The blue and fawn colors also have had some genetic problems and in some countries, these colors are banned in their shows. Some unethical dog breeders will advertise white Doberman Pinschers and sell them as exclusive without explaining about genetic problems with the breed.

The tails are often bobbed and the ears cropped so that they stand up. When original bred, the idea was to have a sleek built dog, so the ears and tails were surgically enhanced to facilitate that vision. However this practice is not in use all over the world and in some dog shows they do not allow for any dogs that have been altered to appear in their dog shows.

The Doberman Pinscher dog breed has a reputation for being actually very gently and loving. They are, however a protective breed and will attack if they feel they or their family is threatened. They are extremely loyal and a well socialized Doberman Pinscher dog can be a true asset to a family where they will find that this breed is good with all family members and even other dogs.

The Doberman Pinscher dog is one of the most highly recognizable breeds around, and is a favorite with many.

The first thing that you must want to know with regard to the Doberman Pinscher is how does it look because that can tell you a lot about the breed and also whether it is suited for you as a pet. It is, in fact, a medium sized dog whose height at the withers is between two feet and a bit more for the bitch and a bit higher for the male. In addition, the Doberman Pinscher weighs from between seventy-five pounds to a hundred pounds for the male while, obviously the female is lighter by about fifteen pounds. In addition, the male Doberman Pinscher is rather masculine looking while the females are more feminine looking.

Named After A German Tax Collector

Doberman Pinschers are very popular and this is in part due to its affectionate nature and also because it is very loyal and of course, intelligent as well. It is sleek and also intense and it owes its name to a German tax collector named Louis Doberman who was the originator of this breed, and it first made an appearance in the year 1860 when it was a mix of German pincers as well as Greyhounds and English Greyhounds as well as Rottweilers and even Beaucerons.

In the year 1908, the Doberman Pinscher got to be recognized by the American Kennel Club and there is even a special Doberman Pinscher club that is devoted to this breed and which was founded in America in the year 1921. The Doberman Pinscher is best known for being a muscular dog that is also very elegant in its looks and is thin though still powerful and its chest is well proportioned while the neck is particularly well muscled. He has dark eyes that show liveliness and intelligence and its coat is closely cropped and can be of various colors including black, fawn, red, white, blue-gray as well as tan and even black & tan.

Contrary to popular notions that the Doberman Pinscher is a vicious or overly aggressive animal, it in fact is not at all like that though he is intense and very energetic and its stamina as well as strength is phenomenal. In addition, the Doberman Pinscher is well recognized for being very intelligent and thus trains without much difficulty, though females are rather stubborn and somewhat more difficult to train.

Also, the Doberman Pinscher does not show any fear and its other good characteristics include being determined, loyal as well as very affectionate to their master, and they are also very protective and thus make good guard dogs. However, the breed is known to have many different types of temperament that ranges from being submissive to being one-man dogs and also some that are family pets.

In addition, the Doberman Pinscher is a healthy animal and it requires adequate exercise though they don’t require too much grooming and they also do not shed too much of their hair. All in all, it is a very good addition to the family and home and that is why it is so popular today.

You’ve seen them in movies and on television; the dog that inspires fear in even the toughest of tough guys. Doberman pinchers have received a bad rap for many years as a vicious beast that could never be a loveable pet to a family. However, this image of the breed is largely incorrect and rather unfortunate since it results in mostly unfounded fear of the breed. In fact, the Doberman pincher is an affectionate, gentle pet that will be protective of his family while he is exceedingly loving toward them. If you are considering the addition of a Dobe to your family, there are a few factors that you should consider first.

Strong Personality
A Doberman Pincher is considered to be a dominant dog, which means that a firm hand is needed to train this breed properly. Since aggression toward people and dogs outside the family can be characteristic of the Doberman, training should begin early and be done consistently to ensure that there are no problems as the dog matures. This animal can possess a stubborn streak that can make training a bit more challenging, but their eagerness to please and their intelligence certainly make them capable of becoming an obedient, well-trained family pet. The female Doberman pinchers can tend more toward the stubborn side than the males.

Energetic and Playful
This breed was created for power and strength in the 1860’s by a German tax collector named Louis Dobermann. Because Dobermann had to travel through dangerous areas at times to conduct his business, he wanted an animal that could serve as a guard dog by his side on his journeys. This means that the Doberman pincher is a perfect choice for families that want a bit of extra protection at home. Not only is the appearance of a full-grown Doberman pincher enough to scare off all but the boldest of bandits; this dog will protect his family and his home to his fullest capacity if necessary.

Because of his energy and strength, the Doberman pincher needs plenty of exercise every day in the form of a walk and time to run in a fenced yard. This dog can work in an apartment setting, as long as daily walks are taken without fail. However, a bit of room to run in a back yard is generally a better choice for the Doberman pincher. This is also not a dog that will enjoy staying outdoors alone most of the day. The Doberman pincher will want to spend as much time with his family as possible, and this bonding will socialize the dog well and reduce the possibility of aggressive behavior.

Overall, the Doberman pincher can make a good choice of a pet for many families today. If you are considering one of these beautiful dogs for your own family, talk to a breeder or veterinarian to see if a Dobe is the right dog for you.

Doberman Pinschers are a common sight in the movies. People are used to seeing people running for their lives as aggressive dogs lunge at them with demonic looking eyes. However, in real life, most Dobermans are actually loyal, intelligent family pets.

The American Kennel Club classifies the Doberman Pinscher as a member of its Working Group. These dogs were originally bred to be police dogs. They were also commonly used in the German military. The sight of one of these big, dangerous looking dogs coming toward them filled people with dread. After all, they are extremely powerful animals.

The Doberman Pinscher is a square dog with a powerful chest and a bullet shaped head. This breed weighs in at anywhere from 55 to 90 pounds and stands 24 to 28 inches tall. The Doberman’s short coat is black, red, blue, or fawn with tan markings. Occasionally, these dogs have a white spot on their chests. Its almond shaped eyes are dark in color. Most Dobermans have their tails docked. While this may sound cruel, a docked tail can prevent painful accidents in the future. More than one undocked Doberman has accidentally broken his tail.

Dobermans are not high energy dogs, but they have amazing endurance capabilities. These dogs do need exercise and do not do well in apartment settings. A fenced yard is a much better fit for them. Dobermans enjoy spending time with their owners, so even if you have a fenced yard, you should be prepared to take your dog for a daily walk.

Despite the bad publicity this breed receives, most Dobermans are great with children and other pets. These devoted family dogs will do anything to please their owners and are highly trainable. However, you do need to be careful if you have young children and a Doberman puppy. Puppies can accidentally knock your children down, since they do not realize their own strength and are very energetic.

You will need to begin training and socializing your Doberman as soon as you bring him home to avoid problem behaviors. Dobermans are very intelligent and can get into quite a lot of mischief if they are left to themselves. Puppy obedience classes are a good idea, since the classes will help you train and socialize your puppy while he is young and easy to control. After all, who wants to wait until their dog weighs almost as much as they do before they try to teach him to sit.

Dobermans are big, muscular dogs and need a substantial amount of dog food. Be sure to feed your dog a food formulated for large breeds to be sure he gets the nutrition he needs.

Doberman Pinschers are prone to hypothyroidism and a hereditary condition called von Willebrand’s disease. They also can develop heart problems. As they age, these oversized lap dogs are prone to becoming overweight, so you may want to check with your veterinarian to find out about special foods for older dogs.

It is easy to groom a Doberman. You may want to brush your dog once a week to remove dirt and loose hair and you should check his nails to be sure they are not too long, but they rarely need any further grooming.

Doberman Pinschers may look like hardened killers, but they are actually crème puffs around their family. If you want a dog that will protect your home but still loves to snuggle up beside you at night, then a Doberman may be the right breed for you.
